The Pig in the Park

The Pig in the Park

Yesterday while walking my dog in the park, I see from afar what looks to be a heavy-set dog. As I approached the couple strolling through the park, turns out it was no dog, but a grunting pot-bellied pig! Oink oink to that!

I chatted with the owner who said that Wilbur was a great pet - smart, if not somewhat ornery, but well trained. I asked her why she chose a pig over a dog. She said she had allergies to dogs and was okay with pigs since they are genetically closer to humans. Good point, I thought back to the pig's heart valve that my late grandmother had "installed" when her heart got weak. She lived another 15 years with it. Makes you think twice about man's best friend. Hurray for pigs!
